Mairi Hamilton

Devon artist, Mairi Hamilton was inspired to paint with Fairtrade coffee for Fairtrade Fortnight 2013.

Her work focuses on the individuals active in the local Fairtrade campaign and who often are found attending the Fairtrade Devon Steering Group.  She identifies them as 'Fairtrade Champions'.

Devon was first awarded Fairtrade County status in October 2008 and has been successful in renewing its status ever since.

Depicted below are Devon's Fairtrade Champions painted in coffee. All are Fairtrade ambassadors and are committed to Fairtrade.

Oscar-Ponce-Salazar

One of the coffee growers for Fairtrade made a special visit to Devon in March for Fairtrade Fortnight - Mr Oscar Ponce Salazar, a Fairtrade Coffee producer from Peru. During his time with us in Devon, Oscar engaged with schools, volunteers, community groups and flagship employers. In his honour, Mairi painted his portrait in Fairtrade coffee - it was presented to him on his departure back to the Amazon.

Mairi also recreated a famous favourite, Mona Lisa, in coffee colours.

All artworks use Fairtrade coffee exclusively to form part of the coffeecolours collection.
